Summary of Posts

This is a list of sentence summaries of my trip so far and to massively condense my long winded posts.  


[#]  Flying internationally is a an adventure (See Arriving).

[#]  Traffic in Dhaka is crazy, and I’m enjoying my time here (See apnar nam ki?). 
 
[#]  I’m taking a Bengali class, and each day it’s a little less mysterious.  Turns out you conjugate verbs for different tenses almost the same as Spanish which gave me the boost to stop feeling like I’m drowning. [Added: Bengali is still really confusing.]

[#]  The clothes here are SUPER comfortable, if hot sometimes:  Baggy pants like pajama bottoms, tunics with massive amounts of embroidery and long wide scarf that is worn around your shoulders in a million different ways.  The only thing missing (besides maybe some cooler weather) are pockets.  

[#]  Hospitality is an important part of Bengali culture, and I’m going to try and be more gracious about accepting hospitality (See Hospitality)

[#]  I’m working with SATHI (Sustainable Association for Taking Human Development Initiatives) this month, and they are empowering people through community building in the slums of Dhaka (See Hospitality).

[#] I went on a field visit to Mirpur and got to meet people who have been empowered by SATHI program (See Empowerment).

[#]  After my field visits, I’m writing stories and using the pictures to present the success stories I’ve seen.  I’m also helping SATHI with editing their annual report (See Questions). 

[#] I’m helping redesign the CRWRC office, and my first step is to figure out what the whole picture is and what the staff thinks about it (See Questions).


[#] Friday is Sunday in Bangadesh: American Club, church and finding a bible verse.


[#] I think the reason God sent me to Bangladesh is to acknowledge my brokenness and realize I need to stop trying to keep everything under control and instead depend on God to work through my brokenness (See The Rain Came Today).

[#] I'm feeling better and wondering about the importance of foundational learning as well as reconfirming my love of functionality (See Feeling Better)


[#] I started playing designer for SATHI's layout and have a funny story about shopping. (See Designer, Dhaka Symphony)


[#] Taught my first English class and wanted to say that I know I'm exactly where I am supposed to be this summer. :)


[#] I've kept pretty busy, and I'm trying to remember to take time to be.  I feel a little homesick, but still know I'm in the place that God wants me to be.


[#] I went on my second field visit with SATHI and learned more about the Peoples' Institution, the sustainable community structure that SATHI fosters.
